climate
The climate is tropical with two seasons. The dry season runs from November to May and the wet season with scattered showers from June until October. Temperatures range from an average of 25°C (78°F) in January to 28°C (82°F) in May. The northeast trade winds make windsurfing a major attraction from December until April.
language
More than a hundred dialects are spoken in the Philippines. The official languages are English and Tagalog, the national language. English is widely spoken by Filipinos and the language commonly used for business.
currency
The Philippine currency is the peso, which is divided into 100 centavos. Bank notes are issued in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000.
immigration requirements
Visitors from several countries do not require a special visa for the Philippines, with a 21-day stay granted upon arrival, provided they have valid onward tickets. Passports should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Please check with the Philippine embassy or consulate in your area for more information.
health
At Amanpulo a resident nurse or doctor is on call 24 hours a day. No vaccination is required unless you come from a cholera or yellow fever infected region, in which case a certificate of vaccination is required. Pamalican is a malaria free island.
travel tips
Electricity is 220 volts/ 60 cycles. The Philippines time zone is plus eight hours GMT. Loose and casual clothing, ideally of cotton or natural fibre, is advisable.
